AlertMe - Intelligent Home Security

AlertMe is an intelligent home security and monitoring service that connects straight to you. AlertMe uses your broadband and a variety of clever sensors around your home to put you in control. AlertMe immediately alerts you and lets you use your mobile phone or the internet to check on things or respond to an incident.

The Equipment

The Hub: The brains of the kit. The hub monitors all the other sensors in your home and talks to the AlertMe servers, telling you everything you need to know. Simply plug into your broadband and a power point and the hub will communicate securely and continuously.

The Keyfob: Turns the alarm on or off with a click, and identifies who is home and away. (3 per kit)

The Motion Sensor: Notices any movement in its view and reports the activity straight to you or your chosen contact. (2 per kit)

The Alarm Detector: Listens for an alarm from your existing smoke, carbon monoxide or freezer alarms and forwards the alert. (2 per kit)

Door/Window Sensor: Tells you if a door or window is opened while you're away. (3 per kit)

The Button: The button is customizable to serve several purposes. It can be used as a panic button, a doorbell, a quick alarm cancel or other functions that will be available in the near future.

The Website: Intuitive design lets you monitor and manage your home from anywhere in the world. (1 per kit)

How Does it Work?

Your keyfobs, sensors, and other accessories all wirelessly use ZigBee to securely talk to the Hub. The Hub acts in the home and tells you of any issues. It also forwards encrypted information over the broadband line and/or the mobile phone network to the AlertMe servers. The servers then respond appropriately: either keeping activity notes for you to view on your private webpages, or immediately forwarding an alert.

What Happens If There's A Problem?

You and your chosen friends, family, and neighbours will then receive informative text messages. If someone is nearby, they can try to safely verify the problem. If the alert is a simple mistake, they can give the all clear- no need to worry or bother the authorities with a false alarm. If it looks like a real problem they can immediately call the police or fire department, responding quickly to protect your home.
