Caught on CCTV Within Minutes
CCTV equipment was a success within minutes of being installed at a Co-op car park on South Street, Ilkeston.
The car park has had persistent problems such as graffiti, drug taking, joy riding and criminal damage.
Two youths were caught within minutes of the CCTV camera going live and were taken to the police station for questioning.
The car park recently received a “Park Mark” award for having an improvement in safety for its public.
Now a more safer area the local police and council are discussing plans for further CCTV usage in similar problems areas in the future.
